1. Comcast
Comcast is one of the nation's leading providers of cable TV, Internet and phone services. The company owns a majority stake in NBCUniversal, which operates the NBC and Telemundo broadcast networks. The Comcast Corporation is also the parent company of Comcast-Spectator, which owns both the Philadelphia 76ers and Flyers.
The company recently announced the release of their Xfinity Signature Support service, which provides 24x7 technical support to a wide range of products that Comcast customers use to connect to their services.
As of late, the company's broadband business has been growing. Comcast signed up 418,000 broadband subscribers in the first quarter of 2011, outpacing competitors Time Warner, Verizon and AT&T. This increase in subscriber base was a major factor contributing to the company's first-quarter profits, which are up 32 percent from last year.

2. Cardinal Health
The company provides consulting and distribution services to various entities in the health care industry in order to improve their cost-effectiveness. Cardinal works primarily with hospitals, pharmacies, and ambulatory care sites. The company currently employs more than 30,000 worldwide.
Cardinal also manufactures medical and surgical products, and operates the nation's largest network of radio-pharmacies. These locations dispense products that aid in the treatment and diagnosis of disease. The company currently is ranked No. 17 on the Fortune 500.
Initially founded in 1971 as a food distributor, the company began branching into pharmaceutical distribution in 1979. By 1987 the company's pharmaceutical division had grown to twice the size of their food business.
The company recently partnered with the American Pharmacists Association in an initiative to encourage practicing pharmacists and pharmacy students to take an active role in preventing the abuse of prescription medication.

3. Panera Bread Company
Established in 1981 and headquartered in St. Louis, Mo., the company operates 1,453 company-owned and franchise locations in 40 states and Ontario, Canada. The Zagat Guide named Panera Bread the most popular restaurant chain (in the chains-with-fewer-than-5,000-locations division).
The Florida-based franchisee, Covelli Family LP, recently announced plans to open 25 new stores, 19 of which will be in the Orlando area. The company plans to open a new store every two months using a $25-million line of credit from PNC Financial Services.
The company has been quite innovative lately in its social outreach and charitable programs. Taking a page from nonprofit initiatives like Karma Kitchen, the company has opened their third Panera Caresrestaurant in Chicago. These locations allow customers to donate an amount of their choosing in exchange for meals.

4. Schneider National, Inc.
Schneider is a leading provider of truckload and logistical services. The company got its start in 1935 when A.J. "Al" Schneider sold the family car in order to purchase his first truck. 5. Avis
Avis Budget Group, headquartered in Parsippany, N.J., is a leading vehicle renter in North America, Australia, New Zealand and the other regions that the company serves. The company's fleet has more than 350,000 vehicles and ABG completed more than 23 million rental transactions in 2009.
Among the company's efforts to streamline the car rental process is their iPhone app, which allows customers to make, change or check reservations on-the-go. The company is also keen on using surveys to solicit feedback. Such surveys led them to be the first company in the industry to offer a completely smoke-free fleet.
The U.K. branch of the company is sponsoring adventurer James Ketchell in his quest to climb Mount Everest for charity. Ketchell, who suffered a near-fatal motorcycle accident in 2007 and was not expected to fully recover, successfully rowed across the Atlantic in 2010. The latest reports indicate that Ketchell could summit any day now, weather conditions permitting.
