The industry is being flooded with up and comers and those who aspire to be. But what sets them apart? What makes each rapper different from the next? What makes them “it”? Well New Jersey artist Rav P might just have that “sound” to break him apart from the rest. With the upcoming release of his latest EP “Unemployment Check: tier 2“, Rav uses his unique flow over dope beats to exhibit his life experiences.
With a list of accomplishments dating back to 1998, Rav P has done it all low key. His latest mixtape, however, might just be what leads him to a more mainstream audience. He attributes his sound to growing up in a Jamaican household and being introduced to different types of music. Choosing to name his EP series Unemployment Check in efforts to prove that you can take a negative situation and make it positive with will power and dedication. This ideal can be seen in the likes of tracks like the intro “New Life” and “Life Happens”. Other tracks such as “Heart out ya pussy” and “turn me up” (both favorites of the album) come with catchy hooks and that gritty sound that makes him uniquely him.
Rav P gives a refreshing sound to an era of up and comers in hip hop saturated by hot beats drowning out lack luster lyrics.
