Top MLB Prospect Chooses Priesthood over Big Leagues

So here is Grant Desme's baseball resume. Second round draft pick to the Oakland A's in 2007. Then, in Class A minor league baseball, he hit 40 homeruns and stole 31 bases, being the only minor league player with 30-30 [at least 30 of each]. Became the MVP of the Arizona Fall League, and then got an invitation to play for the A's in spring training this year.

But guess what else he can add to his real resume? Occupation : Priest

So now, Desme faces what he says is a 10-year path to becoming a priest while studying at St. Michael's Abbey in Orange County beginning in August. I guess God's calling must of been more importance than his childhood dream, so I wish him the best.

But won't it be a tad unfair when they have a church softball game ?
