Kutcher and Moore threaten to leave Twitter

After the social-networking service Twitter announced Monday it was in talks to develop an unscripted series based on the site, two of the service's most prolific users have expressed fear that such a jump would mean an unfair intrusion on their lives.

According to CNN, the proposed reality show would be aimed at "putting ordinary people on the trail of celebrities in a revolutionary competitive format," producers said.

Ashton Kutcher and his wife, Demi Moore, who have more than 3 million Twitter followers between them, have posted Tweets to the effect that a TV show based on Twitter would equate a sellout on the Web site's part.

"It's all fun and games until somebody gets stalked," Kutcher posted Monday on Twitter. "I really don't like being sold out. May have to take a Twitter hiatus."

Moore followed suit with a post that read, "Hope this isn't true -- if it is our Twitter time may come to a quick and sad end!"

The site's co-founder Biz Stone told CNN there was no definite TV series in the works, but acknowledged his company has "a lightweight, non-exclusive, agreement with the [TV] producers which helps them move forward more freely."

Those producers, Reille and Brillstein Entertainment, were more definitive in speaking with the Associated Press Monday.

"Twitter is transforming the way people communicate, especially celebrities and their fans," Reveille managing director Howard T. Owens told AP.

He added that his goal was to "unlock Twitter's potential on TV."
