Breaking Blog: Akon’s Konvict Musik Artist Dolla Murdered In Beverly Hills! [Update]

It comes with a heavy heart that I have to report that Konvict/Jive/La Face recording artist Dolla is said to have been fatally shot just moments ago. Details are sketchy at the moment, but according my sources Dolla legal name Roderick Anthony Burton II did not survive the horrific altercation.
The LA Times Blog is reporting that the shooting occurred just after 3 p.m. at the La Cienega Boulevard entrance to the popular Westside shopping center:
All entrances and exits to the popular Westside shopping mall were sealed off as police swarmed the scene. LAPD officials said that officers were sent to the mall on a report of a group fight, possibly involving a knife. LAPD Sgt. Ronnie Crump said two suspects ran in the direction of Beverly Hills.
Though his name has yet to be released, insiders associated with Akon’s budding record label have confirmed to Gyantunplugged.com that the sad news is true, but wouldn’t offer up anymore details. Reports of Dolla’s heavy street ties is believed to have played a role in this sad story.

Man fatally shot at entrance to Beverly Center [Updated]

A man was fatally shot at the entrance to the Beverly Center mall this afternoon, and police were searching for two suspects.

At a Chipotle restaurant in the mall, several people were eating when the shots rang out.

“The customers were yelling 'close the store, close the store, because somebody is shooting,' ” said Elsa Hernandez, general manager of the restaurant.

An employee who was behind the restaurant, near the mall’s valet parking service, saw the tail end of the dispute, Hernandez said. “He saw a lady ... shooting a handgun,” Hernandez said.

A publicist for Konvict Muzik artist "Dolla," real name, Roderick Anthony Burton II, has confirmed the death of the 21 y/o up-and-comer.
According to Burton's publicist Sue Vannasing, the 21 year old rapper was shot in the head.
Vannasing said Burton and D.J. Shabbazz, another rapper, were waiting at the valet stand after a shopping trip when the shooting occurred.
LAPD Sgt. Ronnie Crump confirmed the victim was shot about 3:15 p.m. yesterday, May 18th, on the ground floor of the mall. Nearby diners dove for cover when the shots rang out.
Vannasing says Burton's killers followed him to the mall "because they knew he was coming."
She says the shooting may have been retaliation from an earlier altercation which may have occurred at the airport.

Burton had arrived at LAX from Atlanta earlier in the day. He was in town to record his debut album.
Burton was rushed to Cedars Sinai Medical Center where he died of his wounds.
Two suspects fled the scene. One in a silver Mercedes Benz SUV. The other in a Nissan Altima.
The suspect who fled from the mall in a silver Mercedes - a black male approximately 20-years old - was arrested at the ticket counter at Terminal 1 at the Los Angeles International Airport.
"The suspect was detained without incident [and] discovered to be armed," said Los Angeles World Airports spokeswoman Nancy Castles.
Funeral services, which will be held in Atlanta, will be announced later, publicist Sue Vannasing said.
